An experienced educator, Matthew teaches personal finance to consumers as an adjunct professor at Norwalk Community Technical College. He instructs through the Continuing Education centers of the Westport, Stamford, Darien, Greenwich and Katonah districts, as well as the 92nd Street YMCA. He has also provided continuing education instruction to CPAs at Baruch College, the CPA Law Forum and through the CPA Report.
He has received the Fairfield County 40 Under 40 Award, given annually to 40 executives who demonstrate extraordinary leadership qualities, with outstanding accomplishments in their respective fields. Recipients exhibit a strong, ongoing commitment to professional development.
In addition to his books, Matthew has written two chapters for the Life Insurance Answer Book, the desk reference guide for life insurance agents. He has also contributed to the Wealth Management Manual.
Confirming his expertise, he is a sought after expert witness in court cases dealing with financial planning matters.
Matthew has an MBA in finance from Boston University.
John A. Burke is a consultant for ETF trading and research and the founder of the ETF Research Group. The ETF Research Group provides institutional research on ETFs and ETF flows to ETF Strategists and Issuers. Previously he was Managing Director/Head Trader for American Independence where he set up their ETF trading desk. John was in charge of all ETF trading for the Cougar Global Tactical Growth and Moderate Growth Funds: he also traded the JAForlines Risk Managed-Allocation Fund. In addition, he traded the SMA accounts for the featured ETF Managers.
Prior to American Independence, John was Senior Vice President/Head Trader at Avatar Associates, an ETF-centric quantitative sector rotation investment manager. Before moving to the buy side, he was an OTC market maker for over fifteen years with the firms ABN, AMRO, Dain Rauscher, Montgomery Securities, and Guzman & Company. David founded his own investment firm in October 2000. Prior to forming DC Nelson Asset Management, David was a portfolio manager at Lehman Brothers’ New York City office, where from 1997-2000, he was responsible for managing the assets of high net worth clients and small institutions. Lehman approached David at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter where, from 1995-1997, he played an active role in management at their flagship New York City office. Previously, he was a Financial Consultant for Merrill Lynch. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA,) a designation issued solely by the CFA Institute.
He is a frequent commentator and guest on Bloomberg TV, CNBC, Fox Business, TheStreet.com, and Yahoo Finance where he discusses markets, economics and individual securities.
David also frequently lectures on the financial markets, including several recent appearances before the American Association of Individual Investors (AAII.) David’s investment career follows his well-publicized success in the entertainment industry where he performed with recording artists The Turtles and David Johansen.
